Update aus Silicon Valley

Image

New Russian ballistic missle system Club-K would massively cut down global trade

Image
The new ballistic system Club-K, developed by Russia, is aimed at small countries, "to defend their sovereignty" against the super powers.  Three to Four Cruise Missiles could be hidden in Cargo Boxes on Container Ships and send to any point in the world. This would be a way for rogue states to use free trade on the oceans for military and political purposes. When this technology will become real and Russia is going to sell it to countries which are declared enemies of the West, it could have a huge effect on global trade.

Something new: Economy controls Politics?

Image
The rating agency Standard & Poor is putting force on European governments, by downgrading the credit ranking on Greece and Spain. It is getting tougher for these countries to gain credits from private banks, from now on. It is an exceptional situation, as normally it is the other way around, politics controls economics. Spain and Greece are countries, that have a political tendency towards the left, which means, a greater part of society is controlled by politics, than in more modest countries like Germany, England or the Netherlands. This also means, that the state is involved in a lot of business, which should really be private. It seems, that all preconditions are true at the moment, that political change is triggered by global economics.

Obama is strong in economic issues and McCain points in security issues. In August the Georgian crisis could suggest, that McCain wins, as the West is threatened in the world. Then came the financial crisis, and Obama has consistently improved until November 4th, when he won the election. But it is conspicuous, that while Russias dared the West throughout the year, in the last weeks before the election, it was quite. As soon as Obama was elected, Mehdvedev stationed Iskander rockets in Kaliningrad, the entrance of Russia to the naval area of western europe, especially Germany (see image below). Story on RIA Novosti

Russias influence on the presidential race

It was common sense, that Obama is strong in economic issues and McCain points in security issues. In August the Georgian crisis could suggest, that people trust McCain more, when the West is threatened in the world. Then came the financial crisis, and Obama has consistently improved his poll results until November 4th, when he fantastically won the election. But isn´t it a little conspicuous, that while Russias tone and actions against the West was very aggressive throughout the year, in the last weeks they were very quite. And just at the day of election, Mehdvedev continued with the old habit and set out the next step of arming against the west: Stationing of Iskander rockets in Kaliningrad , which is the entrance of Russia to the naval area of western europe, especially Germany (see image below).

Obamas spirit, now in power

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer." Transcript of Obamas speech in Chicago, right after his election.
