Russias influence on the presidential race

It was common sense, that Obama is strong in economic issues and McCain points in security issues. In August the Georgian crisis could suggest, that people trust McCain more, when the West is threatened in the world. Then came the financial crisis, and Obama has consistently improved his poll results until November 4th, when he fantastically won the election. But isn´t it a little conspicuous, that while Russias tone and actions against the West was very aggressive throughout the year, in the last weeks they were very quite. And just at the day of election, Mehdvedev continued with the old habit and set out the next step of arming against the west: Stationing of Iskander rockets in Kaliningrad , which is the entrance of Russia to the naval area of western europe, especially Germany (see image below).
