Something new: Economy controls Politics?

The rating agency Standard & Poor is putting force on European governments, by downgrading the credit ranking on Greece and Spain. It is getting tougher for these countries to gain credits from private banks, from now on.

It is an exceptional situation, as normally it is the other way around, politics controls economics. Spain and Greece are countries, that have a political tendency towards the left, which means, a greater part of society is controlled by politics, than in more modest countries like Germany, England or the Netherlands. This also means, that the state is involved in a lot of business, which should really be private. It seems, that all preconditions are true at the moment, that political change is triggered by global economics.
